“Random Crap” (2017) oil on aluminium panels 226 x 270 cm
Georgina captures the humour of observational moments of everyday domestic life on a larger than life scale. ‘Random Crap’ is an excellent example; it’s dimensions are 226 x 270 cm. It depicts her brother prostrate amongst the detritus of Christmas wrapping paper and presents; he has become part of the debris that surrounds him. The painting begs the viewer to ask: are the words a reference to the recumbent figure or to the larger situation in which he finds himself?
Georgina studied at the Slade School of Art gaining her Master’s in Fine Art in 2017. Whilst at the Slade she won the Mary Rischgitz Prize for excellence in oil painting and has subsequently won the 2019 Wells Open Art Exhibition People’s Choice Award. She has been also shortlisted for several awards including the Jack Goldhill Painting Prize, Zabludowicz Collection, Artist and Illustrator of the Year 2015 and long listed for the Griffin Art Prize.
