Elinor Evans
‘Bamboo Magic’ (2016) oil on canvas 122x144cm
Elinor’s work possesses a theatrical dynamism of performance. It inhibits a place where animal and human appear to act out a ritual for the viewer, but which the viewer is only able to glimpse and imagine the narrative and special relationship that is taking place between animal and human. And, whilst human and animal are playing a part for the viewer, the true identity of the human is always hidden behind a mask making them anonymous and infusing the scenario with ambiguity.
Elinor gained a First Class BA(Hons) degree in Art and Design (Painting) at Chelsea College of Art (2003-2005) and an MA in Painting at the Royal College of Art (2003-2005). She has won several awards including 2004 first prize Amiln Award at the Royal College of Art, 2004 National Eisteddfod Art Prize, 2006 Royal Cambrian Academy and selected for 2008 Jerwood Contemporary Painters. She has also exhibited in numerous international painting exhibitions in the UK, France and Spain. Her paintings are in several international private collections.
